Crinoid

Iocrinus trentonensis

• Ordovician
• Bobcaygeon Formation
• Ontario, Canada

Size: 6.5 cm across the arms

Iocrinus trentonensis is a disparid with a low, ridge-ornamented calyx, a pentagonal/pentameric stem, and uniserial arms with a corrugated anal sac. The species occurs in various localities such as the Ordovician of the famous Walcott-Rust Quarry in New York, USA and the Ordovician of the Neuville Formation in Quebec, Canada, though isn't particularly common anywhere. It is however very rare in the Bobcaygeon, especially with any degree of completeness. Context and provenance are truly key to a fossil.
